VR Therapy
Insight Comprehensive Therapy is now proud owners of the REAL Virtual Reality system. This VR system includes 18 various games that can provide therapy in many different extremities and serve many different purposes. Therapy areas include upper extremity, core and balance, cognition, functional uses (activities of daily living), distraction and low stimulation environments. The VR system can treat endurance, cervical range of motion, postural control and stability, core strengthening and balance, wrist and shoulder range of motion, core strengthening, pain distraction and relaxation, and stress management. It can help with visuospatial awareness, attention, processing, and memory, command-response, reactive movement, and decision making. VR can ultimately be used for any diagnosis. Common diagnoses include chronic back pain, chronic neck pain, cognitive impairment, concussion/TBI rehabilitation, multiple sclerosis, orthopedic rehabilitation, Parkinson’s, spinal cord injury, stroke rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation. Using VR during therapy increases motivation, encourages patients to extend their abilities without even thinking about it, decreases fear-avoidance behaviors, and an increase in tolerance. Speak with your evaluating therapist to learn more or get this added to your treatment plan. If interested, please contact our office at 810-275-9610.
