Insight Healing Center is a CARF-certified residential rehabilitation facility specializing in supporting patients with brain, spinal cord, and orthopedic injuries sustained in automobile or work related accidents. With a one-on-one approach, a home-like atmosphere, and access to Insight’s multispecialty team of world-class healthcare professionals, our patients have the support to regain independence, minimize disability, and achieve the best possible quality of life. Patients have the option to live at the healing center until they are able to return home independently or stay with us indefinitely.

Insight Residential Therapy

Insight Residential Therapy is a rehabilitation team located at the Insight Flint Campus that provides Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy for the Insight Healing Center residents.  The team specializes in treatment of patients who have experienced multi-level trauma as a result of automobile accidents, including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury as well as orthopedic injuries.

Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation

We specialize in assisting patients who have experienced traumatic brain injuries from motor vehicle accidents. Our state-of-the-art facility has a team of specialized physicians and nurses who work closely with patients recovering from TBI, as well as their families, to maximize function and healing.

Michigan Brain Injury Services Medicaid Program

Insight Healing Center is a long-standing contracted provider for the Brain Injury Services (BIS) Medicaid Program through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

Under this program, Medicaid covers post-acute, comprehensive, intensive, goal-directed residential and outpatient rehabilitation services for individuals who have experienced a moderate or severe acquired brain injury such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, etc.

An individual must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the BIS Medicaid Program:

  1. At least 21 years old
  2. Medicaid-eligible
  3. Have a qualifying brain injury that occurred within 15 months of application to the BIS Medicaid Program
  4. Medically Stable
  5. Able to participate in appropriate residential services, which includes at least fifteen (15) hours per week or appropriate outpatient services, which includes at least nine (9) hours per week upon approval for the BIS Medicaid Program
  6. Appropriate for 60 to 90 days of BIS Medicaid Program as supported by a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) physician’s order
  7. In the absence of a PMR physician’s order, a psychological consultation conducted by a qualified professional that substantiates the beneficiary’s ability to interact with the therapy treatment team and the ability to participate in the required therapy levels will be accepted.

*The above is reflective of general eligibility guidelines. Final determinations and authorizations will be made by MDHHS.

Director of Case Management and Nursing Services

Nancy Petzold is a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Michigan-Flint. She has been in the nursing field for approximately 25 years, working as an auto case manager, occupational health nurse, and consultant for adult foster care homes for eight years. She also has several years of management experience within the medical profession.
Nancy joined Insight in April 2019.

Allison Piatt

Allison Piatt is a board-certified nurse practitioner and is the External Clinical Director at Insight. She specializes in acute care. Allison completed her nurse practitioner degree with honors from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, and her nursing degree at the University of Michigan in Flint. Allison had six years of experience as a registered nurse taking care of step down and ICU surgical patients at area hospitals before pursuing a career as a nurse practitioner. She also worked in general surgery as a nurse practitioner prior to joining Insight in July 2014.

Ali Madha

Corporate Chief Operating Officer

Ali Madha earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Since 2011, he has been a leader in all facets of Insight, from the largest projects to the smallest. He served as Insight’s Business Development Manager in 2013, and his management of the Negotiations and Appeals division for Insight’s medical billing has been the precursor to much of Insight’s recent years growth and expansion.

He is committed to giving back to the community by contributing to the growth of Genesee County. He has been involved directly with community-related projects throughout his tenure at Insight.

Michelle Ososki, PTA

Michelle Ososki is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with twenty years of experience in the field of physical medicine. Michelle specializes in the rehabilitation of neurological injuries through aquatic therapies and unique exercises tailored to each patient’s interests. Michelle brings a creative approach and a perceptive, positive spirit to encourage patients to work hard and stay motivated towards their goals. Michelle enjoys Jeep trail riding with her husband and their two children. In her free time, Michelle likes to garden, work with stained glass, and kayak. Michelle worked with Insight Comprehensive Therapy from 2013 t0 2015 and returned to the team again in February of 2021.

Tyler Barker, PTA

Tyler Barker is a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. He graduated from Mott Community College’s PTA program in November 2020. He has been working for Insight Comprehensive Therapy since January 2021. Tyler enjoys working closely with patients in the inpatient rehabilitation setting and his goal as a Physical Therapist Assistant is to help people of all abilities reach their fullest potential and live their happiest and strongest lives.

Kelsey Williams, COTA/L

Kelsey Williams, COTA/L, completed her associate degree at Mott Community College in June 2021. She began her journey at Insight while completing her clinicals and discovered her passion for inpatient neurorehabilitation. Kelsey became an OT technician for Insight Healing Center in September 2021. She became a licensed and board-certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in December 2021. She then was
promoted to a full time COTA position in 2021. She specializes treating patients with neurological disabilities promoting independence and confidence with everyday activities. Kelsey’s goals for the future are to gain knowledge through evidence-based practice for traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries to facilitate the best outcome for her patients.

Brett Davis, COTA/L

Brett Davis is a certified and licensed occupational therapy assistant. He graduated from Mott Community College in Fenton, MI in 2020. He continued his education at Aurora University, working toward a nursing major, when he discovered the profession of occupational therapy assistant and felt it was the best fit for him. Since 2020, he has gained experience in pediatrics, geriatrics, and home health. He then joined the Insight team in May of 2022, where he found his love for neurorehabilitation. Brett is focused on providing patient-centered occupational therapy to help patients achieve their personal and therapeutic goals. As hobbies, Brett enjoys staying fit through sports, playing baseball, floor hockey, and golf.

Nancy Murto, COTA

Nancy Murto has been in the healthcare industry for over 30 years and has vast experience in different healthcare settings. For the past 20 years, Nancy has worked as a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA). For Nancy, this is not just a Monday through Friday job to collect a paycheck. It is her passion and a God-given gift and talent. Nancy loves caring for her patients and treating them as if they were her own family, with great care and compassion. She loves working as part of the therapy team and is passionate about what they do, noting that they are a creative, kind, and caring team that consistently pours into their patients and can say without a doubt, well done faithful servants.

Michelle Mink, PTA

Michelle Mink is a physical therapy assistant at Insight Residential Therapy. Prior to joining Insight, Michelle has worked in both outpatient and skilled nursing settings. She became interested in physical rehabilitation therapy through family experiences and finds accomplishment in helping her patients meet their goals and improve their quality of life. In her free time, Michelle enjoys being outdoors, hiking, reading, being creative stained glass, and spending time with family.

Chrishinda Phifer, OTR

Chrishinda (Chrisy) Phifer is an occupational therapist at Insight Healing Center. Chrisy graduated from Baker College of Flint with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and a minor in psychology. With over 18 years of experience, Chrisy has performed therapy in an array of settings and has provided skilled interventions in a multitude of diagnoses. She joined Insight in 2016 seeking collaboration with a neurotherapy team specializing in neurological disorders. Chrisy enjoys the dynamic challenges each patient offers and creates specific one of a kind treatment plans based on intrinsic motivation, external supports, and contextual perspectives for goal-directed outcomes.

Kelly Laine is a speech-language pathologist at Insight Healing Center, specializing in diagnosing and treating a wide range of language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Born and raised in Davison, Michigan, Kelly graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2004 and began her career at Oakwood Hospital in Trenton, where she treated patients ranging from pediatric to adult in both inpatient and outpatient settings. After having a family, Kelly began working in school settings at Ypsilanti and Goodrich area schools. She also worked in an applied behavior analysis center providing services to autism spectrum disorder children, including nonverbal children. In 2016, she decided to return to her passion, working with adults in acute, subacute, and memory/dementia care skilled nursing facilities.
